(B) The lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity in tissue homogenates (a) and plasma (b) was measured by spectrophotometry. (C) Myocardial parasite burden was determined by real-time quantitative PCR amplification of Tc18SrDNA sequence. Results were normalized to murine GAPDH DNA and presented as fold change in TcDNA levels in chronically infected mice (±SIL). Abbreviations as in Figure 1.
